Getting to and from Rhodes Airport

The taxi rank is directly outside the arrivals exit. Fares to the main resorts are fixed by the Rhodes taxi association and posted on a board at the rank, so you can check the price before getting in. The night tariff (00:00–05:00) and luggage supplements apply on top of the figures below.

Rhodes taxis are the dark blue and white saloons and minivans you will see all over the island. There are usually enough at the rank even for late charter arrivals, but if you land after midnight or need a minivan for a large group it is worth pre-booking. Radio taxi: +30 22410 69800.

The airport bus is run by KTEL Rodou, the island’s intercity bus company. It links the airport with the bus station on Averof Street in Rhodes Town, beside the New Market and a short walk from the Old Town and Mandraki harbour. In summer buses leave roughly every 30–60 minutes between about 06:30 and 23:00; the winter timetable is thinner, so check the current schedule before relying on a late evening bus.

The fare is €2.60 one way, paid to the driver or at the kiosk. The stop is on the main road outside the terminal: walk out of arrivals, cross to the far side and look for the bus shelter. Buses fill up after big charter arrivals and there is no separate luggage hold, so allow extra time if you have large suitcases.

For hotels outside Rhodes Town a pre-booked private transfer is the least stressful option: the driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, the price is agreed in advance and child seats can be requested. Shared shuttle buses are cheaper but wait for several flights and drop off at many hotels, which can add an hour on the road after a long flight.

Package holidays normally include a coach transfer; look for your tour operator’s representative outside arrivals. If you are travelling independently, compare a transfer quote with the taxi table above. For two people to Faliraki the difference is small; for a family to Lindos or Kiotari a transfer or a hire car usually wins.
